Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Linda Bulldogs vs. Independence Patriots

The Sierra Linda Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Independence Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra Linda will be strutting in after a victory while Independence will be coming in after a loss.

Sierra Linda took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Washington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rams 9-8.

Meanwhile, Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Ironwood, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly ten runs.

Sierra Linda is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11-1.

Sierra Linda might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Independence in their previous meeting back in April of 2015. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
