Softball Preview: Lakeland Eagles vs. Mott Corsairs

Lakeland has enjoyed a 11-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Mott Corsairs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeland knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Mott likes a good challenge.

Kellie Mueller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mueller was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emilee Dostal, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Tierney Finnegan was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Mott entered their contest against Capac on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Mott lost 20-1 to Capac. Mott has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lakeland's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. As for Mott, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything went Lakeland's way against Mott in their previous meeting back in April of 2017 as Lakeland made off with a 19-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
