Basketball Recap: Kenesaw Takes a Loss

Kenesaw lost against Bertrand back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Kenesaw Blue Devils took a hard 60-42 fall against the Bertrand Vikings. The Blue Devils were down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Kenesaw lost, don't look at Adam Denkert. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-8 on his way to 12 points along with five boards and three blocks. Denkert is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maddox Wagoner, who posted 14 points.

Bertrand got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcus Hernandez out in front who went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Thunder Nelson was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven steals and five boards.

Kenesaw has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for Bertrand, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenesaw will host Wood River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wood River has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three matches. As for Bertrand, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cambridge at 7:30 p.m. Bertrand is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
