Parkersburg hadn't done well against St. Albans recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Big Reds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Red Dragons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in April.

Parkersburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Cancade, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Josh Knicely also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Parkersburg is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season. As for St. Albans, they moved to 18-8 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Parkersburg will challenge Athens at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Big Reds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. St. Albans does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
