Football Recap: Sunrise Mountain Comes Up Short on the Road Against Desert Mountain

Sunrise Mountain kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Desert Mountain Wolves. While the Mustangs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Wolves 13-0.

Loss or not, Sunrise Mountain got some senior leadership from Shae Kelly and Ingrid Sandoval. Kelly picked up 85 receiving yards and two scores, while Sandoval threw for 191 yards and three TDs. Kelly was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 65 yards.

Sunrise Mountain didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-0 victory against Sierra Linda on the 23rd. As for Desert Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-0 defeat against Chaparral on the 18th.
