Volleyball Recap: Credo Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Credo unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs on Friday. The Gryphon were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Credo started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-19.

St. Vincent de Paul was led to victory by Ella Mariolo and Savannah Todd. Mariolo had 14 assists and five aces, while Todd had four digs and two aces. Those 14 assists gave Mariolo a new career-high.

The victory was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for St. Vincent de Paul, bringing their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Credo will challenge Healdsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against St. Helena at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
