Basketball Recap: Amarillo's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Amarillo had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Tuesday. They breezed by the Monterey Plainsmen to the tune of 72-44. The Sandies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 24 points or more this season.

Amarillo's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Monterey, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-16 record.

Coincidentally, Amarillo and Monterey will both be playing Lubbock-Cooper the next time they take the court. Monterey will host Lubbock-Cooper at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Amarillo will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th.
