Football Recap: St. Andrew's Episcopal Comes Up Short

St. Andrew's Episcopal extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-8. They were outmatched by the Quitman Panthers and fell 42-8. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Panthers are ranked 121st).

Will Crowder threw for 116 yards on ten of 22 attempts. John William Walker was his top target, picking up 73 receiving yards and one touchdown.

As for Quitman, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.5 points on average over those games.

Quitman had a senior duo take command as Bryce Gavin threw for 144 yards and three TDs and Shunzarious Dear picked up 63 receiving yards and three scores. Gavin has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise.

St. Andrew's Episcopal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Quitman, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 23-16 loss against Magee on the 7th.
