Softball Game Preview: Spring Grove Rockets vs. York Suburban Trojans

Spring Grove is a perfect 3-0 against York Suburban since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Spring Grove Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the York Suburban Trojans at 4:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Spring Grove's offense. They lost 13-0 to Shippensburg on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Rockets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Spring Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jozalynn Hartman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, York Suburban's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Wednesday. They fell just short of Oley Valley by a score of 8-6. The loss was the Trojans' first of the season.

Sara Lim was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Naomi Carrasquillo was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, York Suburban lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Spring Grove now has a losing record of 1-2. As for York Suburban, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Spring Grove has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like York Suburban struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Spring Grove's way against York Suburban in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Spring Grove made off with a 17-9 win. Will Spring Grove repeat their success, or does York Suburban have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
