Basketball Recap: Milford Takes a Loss

Milford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 84-38 loss at the hands of the Phalen Leadership Academy Falcon. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 661st in Illinois, while the Falcon are ranked 245th in Indiana).

Phalen Leadership Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was R'Mello Watson out in front who went 8 of 10 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Watson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenton Smith, who went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points.

Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Phalen Leadership Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.

Milford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-49 loss against Irvington Preparatory Academy on the 27th. As for Phalen Leadership Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-55 win against Providence Cristo Rey on the 27th.
