Basketball Recap: South Park Comes Up Short

South Park saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 76-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Le Roy Oatkan Knights.

Le Roy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grady Gilligan led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards. Gilligan is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Aidan Weaver was another key player, shooting 55% from the field on his way to 12 points along with seven boards and six steals.

South Park's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Le Roy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

South Park will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Burgard at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2026. Le Roy and Notre Dame will round out the year against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Oatkan Knights' defense better be ready for this one: the Fighting Irish have averaged an impressive 72.7 points per game this season.
