Denair is 0-6 against Stone Ridge Christian since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Coyotes will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Denair and Delhi had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Coyotes put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 8-1 victory on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Coyotes have beaten the Hawks on their field since April 29, 2019.
Makayla Dayton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Prine, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Braelyn Marroquin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Denair kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Stone Ridge Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Gustine 9-1 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Reds: they've now won six in a row.
Denair's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Stone Ridge Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Denair couldn't quite finish off Stone Ridge Christian in their previous meeting back in April and fell 3-1. Will the Coyotes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
