Baseball Game Preview: La Canada Spartans vs. Village Christian Crusaders

The La Canada Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Village Christian Crusaders at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, La Canada didn't have quite enough to beat St. Francis and fell 3-2.

La Canada saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Loughrin, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Finn Flowerhogan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Village Christian won against Pasadena last Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Village Christian blew past Verdugo Hills 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won three matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

La Canada's defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Village Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Everything went La Canada's way against Village Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, as La Canada made off with an 18-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Canada since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
