Softball Recap: Cedar Cliff Takes a Loss

Cedar Cliff had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it 11. They came up short against the State College Little Lions, falling 11-3. The Colts were not able to make up for their loss to the Little Lions from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Teagan Garber was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Alaina Tarnoci also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for State College, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.3 runs.

On State College's side, Paige Moriarta made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Moriarta has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jessica Hawbaker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Sydney Wells was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

While Cedar Cliff had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
