Basketball Recap: Leigh Longhorns vs. Wilcox Chargers
The Leigh Longhorns waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 victory over Wilcox.
Leading Leigh to victory were Cooper Smith and Caleb Asante. Smith dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds, while Asante dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. Asante is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Marko Miocinovic, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Leigh is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Wilcox, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leigh will face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wilcox, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th.
