Football Recap: Rocky Mount Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Rocky Mount couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. The contest between the Gryphons and the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs didn't end well, with the Gryphons falling 21-6. The matchup marked the Gryphons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

A big part of Northside - Jacksonville's victory came down to the chemistry between REGINALD GRAY and his top target JAMIAN JOHNSON. GRAY rushed for 35 yards and a pair of touchdowns while JOHNSON picked up 157 receiving yards and one score. JOHNSON's longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards. Northside - Jacksonville also got a significant boost from ZION JONES, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

Rocky Mount's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Rocky Mount does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hunt at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
