Basketball Game Preview: Severn Run vs. Arundel Wildcats

Severn Run will take on the Arundel Wildcats at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Severn Run is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They snuck past Annapolis with a 68-64 win on Tuesday.

Severn Run can attribute much of their success to Jayden Gonzalez, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 25 points in addition to five assists and three steals, and Caleb Adamah, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Adamah has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Darrelle Adofo was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 13 points.

Severn Run smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Arundel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Annapolis, falling 83-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Panthers since January 17, 2020.

Severn Run will have to contain Javeon Reed as he made an impact in Arundel's last game. He went 6 of 15 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Jenkins, who posted 11 points.

Severn Run's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Arundel, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
