Basketball Recap: Omaha Northwest Comes Up Short

Omaha Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Burke Bulldogs 77-43. That's two games in a row now that the Huskies have lost by exactly 34 points.

Omaha Northwest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jakyi Johnson, who posted six points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Johnson also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was DaWayne Kearney, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points.

It was another big night for Michael White, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards for Burke. Landon Foster was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight boards and three steals.

Omaha Northwest's record now sits at 0-7. As for Burke, their record now sits at 4-2.

Omaha Northwest and Bryan will round out the year against one another at at 10:15 a.m. on Monday. Omaha Northwest is facing Bryan at the right time seeing as Bryan is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Burke, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-55 defeat against Bellevue West on the 28th.
