Basketball Game Preview: Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans vs. Orion Chargers

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] and Orion are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans will face off against the Orion Chargers at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Monmouth United on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] came up short against Monmouth United, falling 40-19. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Red Storm are ranked 135th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Orion, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over Mendota on Saturday.

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Orion, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] skirted past Orion 46-43 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
