Softball Recap: Madison Central Comes Up Short

Madison Central had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 11-15 to make it four. They came up short against the Germantown Mavericks, falling 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Jaguars have suffered since March 21st.

Elizabeth Pullen and Crews Boyer did some serious damage despite the final result: Pullen went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Boyer went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Pullen has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.

As for Germantown, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-3. 11 seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Germantown's side, Mackenzie Donnell tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Germantown got a massive performance out of Presely Merkich, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double. Mollie Haley was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Madison Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Germantown, they will square off against North Pike at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
