Baseball Game Preview: Laguna Acoma Hawks vs. Jemez Valley Warrior

The Laguna Acoma Hawks will face off against the Jemez Valley Warrior at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laguna Acoma will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Laguna Acoma and Zuni, and Laguna Acoma kept the tradition alive. The Hawks blew past the Thunderbirds 13-2 on Thursday. Considering the Hawks have won five contests by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Devin Suazo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Suazo was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Laguna Acoma got a massive performance out of Jayden Dailey, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Dailey has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zaiden Sarracino, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jemez Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 19-3 to Oak Grove Classical Academy.

Laguna Acoma now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Jemez Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Laguna Acoma took their win against Jemez Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Warrior have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
