Softball Recap: Walker Valley Takes Down Ranked Mccracken County

Walker Valley is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of McCracken County. Walker Valley was the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over McCracken County. The result was nothing new for Walker Valley, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Alyssa Davenport, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amy Benson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

The win (which was Walker Valley's fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for McCracken County, they moved to 11-2 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walker Valley will venture away from home to challenge Girls Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.5, the Bruisers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for McCracken County, they will square off against Spanish Fort at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
