Basketball Recap: NCSSM: Durham's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask NCSSM: Durham). They snuck past the Voyager Academy Vikings with an 83-77 win on Tuesday. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Unicorns were down 57-41 in the third quarter.

Alex Caza continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Those 27 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nikhil Nanduri, who posted 11 points and seven steals.

NCSSM: Durham was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darin Jones, who earned 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deon Bullock, who put up 19 points.

The win keeps NCSSM: Durham at an undefeated 6-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 68.0 points this season. As for Voyager Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Durham will challenge Roxboro Community at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Voyager Academy, they will square off against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
