Basketball Recap: Omaha Westside Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Omaha Westside extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Donnie Barfield. The Omaha Westside Warriors took their match on Saturday with ease, bagging a 93-55 victory over the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks thanks in part to Barfield, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 22 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Trell Snoddy, who posted eight points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Makkiah Sanders and Uzziah Sanders certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Makkiah went 6 of 10 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds, while Uzziah went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The contest was Uzziah's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Omaha Westside pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.6 points per game. As for Lincoln Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Omaha Westside will head out to square off against Papillion-LaVista South at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Omaha Westside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Papillion-LaVista South likes a good challenge. As for Lincoln Southwest, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bellevue East at 7:15 p.m. Lincoln Southwest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.5 points per game this season.
