Softball Game Preview: Tri Titans vs. Randolph Southern Rebels

Tri is a perfect 10-0 against Randolph Southern since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Titans will host the Rebels at 10:00 a.m. Randolph Southern took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Tri, who comes in off a win.

Tri took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Richmond. The high-scoring effort was just what the Titans needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Ashton Richey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Richey was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lyla Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ann Bean, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Randolph Southern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Daleville, falling 25-0. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly 25 runs.

Tri now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Randolph Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Tri's way against Randolph Southern in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Tri made off with a 19-0 win. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
