Basketball Recap: Sophie Zirkin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Park School over City College

Park School fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against City College on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the City College Black Knights by a score of 49-46. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bruins of the 49-34 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2019.

Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophie Zirkin, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Zirkin, who scored 14 points.

Park School's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for City College, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Park School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-33 defeat against Concordia Prep on the 13th. City College has also already played their next match (against Mergenthaler Vo-Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
