Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Elgin Maroons

The Plainfield South Cougars will challenge the Elgin Maroons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Plainfield South's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Elgin has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road.

Last Tuesday, Plainfield South beat Joliet Central 59-46. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Steelmen are ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Elgin played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 49-28 to West Chicago. The Maroons were down 40-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-27. As for Plainfield South, their victory bumped their record up to 18-9.
