Baseball Recap: McLoud Takes a Loss

McLoud was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Luther Lions.

Brayden Smith spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, McLoud saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavyn Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Morgan hit this season.

McLoud's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Luther, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

McLoud will be taking part in a tournament against Bethel at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Luther, they will challenge Bristow at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
