Softball Recap: Declo Gets the Win

Declo barely beat Soda Springs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Makendrie Harris made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Kimber Peterson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Claire Wilson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

Declo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Soda Springs struck out nine times.

The victory got Declo back to even at 5-5. As for Soda Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Declo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-6 loss against Firth on the 11th. As for Soda Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-12 defeat against Wendell on the 11th.
