Valley Christian is 0-10 against Whittier Christian since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Defenders will host the Heralds at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Valley Christian and Village Christian, and Valley Christian kept the tradition alive. The Defenders blew past the Crusaders 13-3 on Thursday. 13 seems to be a good number for the Defenders as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Rachel Zhang tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Choyce Chambers, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Britton Brown, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Village Christian only posted an OBP of .261.
Meanwhile, Whittier Christian entered their tilt with Maranatha last Thursday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Minutemen a 19-0 shutout. The Heralds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Bobbie Lozano was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lozano was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Sofia Gonzalez looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, Mia Camacho was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Sofia Hernandez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Whittier Christian pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Valley Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Valley Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Whittier Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley Christian might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Whittier Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Defenders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
