Softball Game Preview: East Hamilton Hurricanes vs. Walker Valley Mustangs

East Hamilton is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Walker Valley is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hurricanes will welcome the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (East Hamilton 3.5, Walker Valley 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, East Hamilton got the win against Cleveland by a conclusive 13-4. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Yulai Woodruff was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, East Hamilton got a big performance out of Madilyn Evans, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs Evans has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jada Rutley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Walker Valley beat Ooltewah 6-1 on Tuesday.

Walker Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Hamilton, their victory bumped their record up to 19-9.
