Baseball Recap: Blake Takes a Loss

Blake was the 1-0 winner over Brandon when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blake Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Brandon Eagles by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Victor Mendez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Marcus Smith was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Blake's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Brandon, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 4-8 record.

Looking ahead, Blake will be taking part in a tournament against Tampa Bay Tech at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tampa Bay Tech has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.42 runs per game on average), something Blake will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brandon, they will take on Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate in a tournament on Saturday. Brandon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
