Basketball Recap: Damirian Thompson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Opp over Andalusia

If Opp was feeling good fresh off their 70-29 takedown of Red Level last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Opp Bobcats took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Andalusia Bulldogs. The Bobcats lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 69-29 score last time.

Opp lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Damirian Thompson, who posted 13 points. Jeshurun Crittenden was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Opp has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Andalusia, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Opp won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hillcrest at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hillcrest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Opp likes a good challenge. As for Andalusia, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Georgiana at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Georgiana will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Andalusia surely won't give up without a fight.
