Football Recap: Eagle Point Eagles vs. Springfield Millers
After flying high against South Eugene two weeks ago, Eagle Point came back down to earth. The Eagles took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Millers on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 28-21 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.
Skylar Tribur and Eli Hamann certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Tribur picked up 91 receiving yards and one score, while Hamann rushed for 72 yards on only ten carries. Tribur's longest reception was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.
Even if they lost, Eagle Point's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Noah Solo was nothing short of spectacular for Springfield: he rushed for 200 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Those 200 rushing yards gave Solo a new career-high.
Eagle Point dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Springfield, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.
