Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends North Vermillion's Winning Streak

After a string of three wins, North Vermillion's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The contest between the North Vermillion Falcons and the Seeger Patriots didn't end well, with the North Vermillion Falcons falling 69-54. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 53-41 to the Falcons when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, North Vermillion still got an impressive performance from Lane Thomann, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 19 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Thomann a new career-high in points. Teegan Dowers was another key player, putting up nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Seeger's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Cole led the charge by shooting 42% from the field on his way to 14 points and three steals. Cole continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Macyn Hughes, who went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points and five boards.

North Vermillion's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Seeger, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. North Vermillion will challenge Covington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Vermillion has given up an average of 53.3 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Seeger, they will take on North Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seeger will be up against North Montgomery's rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.23 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
