Basketball Game Preview: Port Allegany Gators vs. Oswayo Valley Green Wave

Port Allegany has gone 9-1 against Oswayo Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Port Allegany Gators will be home for the holidays to greet the Oswayo Valley Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. Port Allegany is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Port Allegany didn't have too much trouble with Northern Potter as they won 51-33.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Port Allegany to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Wilfong, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and six steals. With that strong performance, Wilfong is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Causer, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Port Allegany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Oswayo Valley lost to Coudersport at home by a 68-49 margin on Wednesday.

Port Allegany is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Oswayo Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Port Allegany against Oswayo Valley in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 60-24 win. In that matchup, Port Allegany amassed a halftime lead of 37-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
