Mountain Heritage had won three straight at home, but  on Friday they bumped up to 5-1 to make it four. They blew past the Polk County Wolverines 51-8. Considering the Cougars have won four games by more than 28  points this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Cason Jones produced another solid  effort rushing for 124 yards and one  score on only six carries, while also picking up 93 receiving yards and one  TD. Those  93  receiving yards gave  him a new career-high.  Brayden Deyton was another key player, rushing for 35 yards and one  touchdown.
 Mountain Heritage's run defense was locked in: Polk County could only muster 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank  Foster Calloway for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mountain Heritage didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.
 Mountain Heritage didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Jacob McPeters and  Connor MacIas. McPeters got in on the action too, converting a pick  into a touchdown.
As for Polk County,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-5. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Mountain Heritage is ranked 64th).
 When it comes to explaining why Polk County lost, don't look at  Loreynzo Sanchez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 90 yards and one  score.
