Volleyball Game Preview: Alexander Central Cougars vs. Watauga Pioneers

Alexander Central hasn't had much luck against Watauga recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will face off against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Alexander Central sitting on three straight victories and Watauga on 22.

On Tuesday, Alexander Central got the win against South Caldwell by a conclusive 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Cougars have posted against the Spartans since September 20, 2023.

While Alexander Central might've won, it sure wasn't easy: South Caldwell scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Watauga made easy work of St. Stephens on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Watauga was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-7, 25-15.

Alexander Central's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Watauga, their victory bumped their record up to 22-1.

Alexander Central suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Watauga in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
