Baseball Recap: Chicago Christian Finds Home Field Redemption Against Wheaton Academy

There's no place like home for Chicago Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Wheaton Academy Warriors on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted against the Warriors since May 10, 2018.

Christian Flutman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chicago Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Assink, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Rafe Slager was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Chicago Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheaton Academy struck out seven times.

Chicago Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Wheaton Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chicago Christian will take on Parkview Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheaton Academy, they will challenge Lisle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
