Baseball Recap: Marist Has No Trouble Against Chicago Washington

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln-Way Central, Marist was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Chicago Washington Patriots with a sharp 8-1 win.

Evan Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other pitching news, Ryan Rosas looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Matt Molesky was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Tommy Hosty was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Marist now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Chicago Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marist will host Sandburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sandburg's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Marist's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Chicago Washington, they will welcome Shepard at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
