Softball Recap: Liberty Center Gets the Win

Liberty Center came out on top against Van Buren on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Tigers walked away with a 5-2 win over the Black Knights. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Black Knights, too.

Mackenzie Fuller made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Davis, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kylie Pinson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Liberty Center and bumps their season record up to 7-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Van Buren, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Liberty Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Van Buren, they will take on Ada at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Black Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
