Volleyball Recap: Brad Chier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Victory Christian Academy over the Cambridge School

Victory Christian Academy entered their matchup against The Cambridge School on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Knights took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Griffins from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Victory Christian Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made The Cambridge School work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 27-29, 29-27, 25-17.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brad Chier, who had 17 kills, 16 digs, two aces, and one block. Chier has been hot for a while, having posted seven or more kills the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Esteban Torres, who had ten digs and two aces.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for The Cambridge School, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Victory Christian Academy will face off against rival High Tech Mesa at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, The Cambridge School is set to take on their familiar foe O'Farrell Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
