Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mavericks vs. Eagle Mustangs

Mountain View hasn't had much luck against Eagle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mountain View Mavericks are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagle Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Mountain View has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Wednesday, Mountain View came up short against Rocky Mountain and fell 74-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), the Mavericks still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Eagle faced Meridian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Eagle fell 52-44 to Meridian. The Mustangs' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Mountain View will have to contain Andrew Palferman as he made an impact in Eagle's last game. He dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Palferman a new career-high in blocks (three). Lucas Kunz was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Eagle's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Mountain View lost to Eagle on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Mountain View, Russell Gibson (who went 7 for 12 en route to 22 points along with six assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
