Basketball Recap: Baldwin Comes Up Short

Baldwin lost to Baker County back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Indians fell 72-61 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 151st).

When it comes to explaining why Baldwin lost, don't look at Nikeese Doss. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Doss is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Demontre Allen, who posted eight points and five boards.

Baker County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joel Carver led the charge by putting up 18 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Brady Jacobs was another key player, shooting 75% from the field en route to 19 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Baldwin and nudges their season record down to 9-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Baker County, their record now sits at 19-1.

Baldwin has already played their next matchup, a 56-55 victory against Branford on the 20th. As for Baker County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-56 loss against Bradford on the 17th.
