Baseball Recap: Bellport Clippers vs. West Babylon Eagles
Bellport extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-12 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the West Babylon Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 on Monday.
As for West Babylon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games.
For West Babylon's part, not much got past Anthony Gerbasio, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Bellport off the board. Gerbasio has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elijah Outlaw, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Steve Gervasi, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs.
