Basketball Recap: South Pointe Takes a Loss

It was fun while it lasted, but South Pointe's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Monday. They had to suffer through a 79-45 loss at the hands of the Premier Prep- PHHoenix Fire. The matchup marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, South Pointe saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dasaan Schaeffer posted 23 points and five boards. Schaeffer's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lee Reed, who put up eight points.

Having lost for the first time this season, South Pointe fell to 5-1. As for Premier Prep- PHHoenix, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

South Pointe will host East Valley Athletes for Christ at 4:30 p.m. on December 17th. As for Premier Prep- PHHoenix, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Heritage Academy Gateway at 5:30 p.m.
