Football Recap: San Mateo Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

San Mateo unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Los Altos Eagles on Friday.

Despite the loss, San Mateo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Valentina Gomez Palacio rushed for 82 yards. Gomez Palacio showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 65 yards.

The win got Los Altos back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, San Mateo will host Hillsdale at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Los Altos, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-6 victory against Presentation on the 2nd.
