Softball Recap: Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets vs. Silliman Institute Wildcats
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Forest Academy). Everything went their way against the Silliman Institute Wildcats on Thursday as the Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets made off with a 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Preslie Dempster was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Dempster was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with an RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Day was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in July. Another player making a difference was Enslee Casanova, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Oak Forest Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Oak Forest Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season. As for Silliman Institute, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Oak Forest Academy will square off against Jackson Prep at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive. Silliman Institute does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
