Basketball Game Preview: Nelsonville-York Buckeyes vs. Meigs Marauders

The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes are taking a road trip to challenge the Meigs Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nelsonville-York is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Nelsonville-York beat Wellston 54-41.

It was another big night for Briant Call, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Landen Inman, who posted seven points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Meigs put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 60-45 victory over Athens. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 505th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meigs pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Nelsonville-York, their record is now 7-3.

Nelsonville-York came up short against Meigs when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 58-51. Can Nelsonville-York avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
