Basketball Game Preview: Canon City Tigers vs. Mesa Ridge Grizzlies

The Canon City Tigers will challenge the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Canon City: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Mesa Ridge has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.

On Friday, Canon City needed a bit of extra time to put away Harrison. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 59-51.

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Mesa Ridge made off with a 49-48 win over Palmer. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Terrors are ranked 75th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mesa Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Canon City, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Canon City was dealt a bruising 65-32 loss at the hands of Mesa Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mesa Ridge's Bryce Riehl, who went 9 for 16 en route to 24 points in addition to eight steals and six assists.
